Instead of doing the old: header("HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found"); die(); etc, we can now do it much easier with this:
<?php /* old style */ header("HTTP/1.0 404 Not Found"); header("Location: http:// //www.example.com/404.php"); die(); /* new style */ http_response_code(404); // // OPTIONAL - require a 404 page here because it will not automatically go to the apache 404 error page with PHP require '404.php' die(); ?>

Snippets of PHP code I have gathered over the years. I keep them here for my own repository but also to share with others. I always link back when I remember the source.
